Jacksonville’s History is an Important Part of Our Culture

The history of Jacksonville is a great place to start if you want to learn about the people and culture of Jacksonville Fl.

There are many cool things about Jacksonville I learned after being in and around all of the old historic buildings, like the 310 West Church Street Apartments built in 1924. The H shaped building has a long history of greatness and a fall into ruin, right down to the bottom. It was the first upscale apartment building in Jacksonville. It became a hotel called the Ambassador in 1955 and by 1998 it was run down and attracted crime. Crack and prostitutes where the norm with the building getting worse all the time, until it was closed in 1998. This building still stands in downtown Jacksonville today and has had numerous renovation plans that have never come to fruition.
